Introducing Redemption

Everyone is welcome. Everyone is loved. Everyone has something to offer.

Welcome to Redemption. I am Rev. Jason Bowman, and I am the Rector (or Sr. Pastor) here. We are non-traditional, traditional church. I know that's as clear as mud. Let me see if I can clean it up a little.

It means we teach the Bible every Sunday with passion, verse by verse and with a single aim: to help everyone know Jesus better and learn to put His Kingdom First. We sing contemporary music (often with a little Celtic feel from our violinist), have Sunday school for our kids, do Bible studies during the week for adults and offer opportunities for mission work in our city and in other parts of the world. We don't care how you dress, and we don't care what your church background is or even if you have a church background.

However, we are different from many churches around us. Many churches seek to give you an experience that is nothing like church. They are great options if you want laid back, informal and comfortable. We have nothing but respect for them, but that is not us.

We are a church for people who want a church. We unapologetically connect to the history, tradition and liturgy of the church through the ages. Our service contains both ancient and modern elements, but we don't want church to have a coffee house "feel" to it. We want something different, something more reverent, more holy than our every day lives.

There are many ways to worship the Lord. While you are unlikely to find us dancing with all our might before the altar on Sunday, there are some things that might be different from what you are used to if you are like me and come out of a Baptist church or a Bible church or any non-denominational church. We have no special lights for our stage, no smoke machines, no projection of images and we sing hymns along with our contemporary music.

We find great value in the ancient church and practices passed down through the ages such as the church calendar and spiritual disciplines. We celebrate communion every Sunday as a highlight of our time together. Our kids begin in the service with us to experience church with their family and other believing adults, but exit at the sermon to get a more age appropriate message. We like times of silence and reflection in our crazy, very loud world. We pray together multiple times throughout the service, and sometimes we use the words from very ancient prayers.

It is hard to explain with words, so I invite you to come and see for yourself. It you want solid, passionate Bible teaching, but perhaps are looking for something a little different in a church service, we'd love to meet you this Sunday morning.
